    About this tool

This favicon generator creates a complete favicon package including all sizes needed for modern browsers and devices. The ZIP file includes favicon.ico, PNG files in various sizes (16x16, 32x32, 180x180 for Apple devices, 192x192 and 512x512 for Android), and a site.webmanifest file for Progressive Web Apps. Simply extract the ZIP to your website's root directory and add the appropriate HTML meta tags.

    Frequently asked questions

What sizes do I actually need for a favicon?

The generated ZIP covers the practical set: 16x16 and 32x32 for browser tabs and bookmarks, 180x180 for Apple touch icons on iOS home screens, and 192x192 and 512x512 for Android and progressive web app installs, alongside a favicon.ico and a site.webmanifest.

Where do I put the files?

Extract the ZIP into your website's root directory, so favicon.ico sits alongside your index file, then add the link and manifest tags to the head of your pages. Browsers will find favicon.ico at the root even without a tag, but the larger sizes need declaring explicitly.

Why does my new favicon not show up?

Favicons are cached aggressively, often more stubbornly than any other asset. Hard refresh, then try a private window, and remember that a tab pinned before the change may hold the old icon indefinitely. Give it a few minutes before assuming something is wrong.

    What makes a good favicon?

Something that still reads at 16 pixels square. That means one strong shape or a single letter, high contrast, and no fine detail: a full logo with a wordmark turns into an unreadable smudge at tab size. Test it at the actual size rather than judging it at 512.

Can I use an emoji as a favicon?

Yes, and it is a genuinely quick answer for a side project or a prototype. Pick the emoji option and it is rendered to every required size. Be aware the artwork is your system's emoji font, so it may look slightly different from what a visitor on another platform expects.

Is my logo uploaded to a server?

No. The image is read into your browser, resized on a canvas and zipped there. Your artwork never leaves your device.
