About these tools
Security tools are the worst possible category to run on someone else's server, because the whole point is that the value being handled is secret. A password generator that generates on a server has, by definition, transmitted your password. Everything here runs entirely in your browser. The Password Generator uses the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator rather than a predictable pseudo-random source. The Text Encryptor performs AES encryption locally, so the plaintext, the key and the ciphertext all stay on your device. Practical guidance: length matters more than complexity. A long passphrase of ordinary words generally resists brute force better than a short string of symbol substitutions, and is far easier to remember. Use a unique password for every account, and store them in a password manager rather than reusing one strong password everywhere.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to generate passwords on a website?
It depends entirely on whether generation happens locally. This generator runs in your browser using the Web Crypto API, so the password is created on your device and never transmitted. A tool that generates server-side has already sent your password over the network.
What makes a strong password?
Length above all: aim for 16 characters or more. A long passphrase of unrelated words is typically stronger than a short password with symbol substitutions, and much easier to remember. Most importantly, never reuse a password across accounts.
How does the text encryptor work?
It applies AES encryption in your browser using a passphrase you choose. The plaintext, passphrase and resulting ciphertext all stay local. If you lose the passphrase, the text cannot be recovered. There is no reset.
Are generated passwords stored anywhere?
No. Nothing is saved, logged or transmitted. Once you close the tab, the generated password exists only wherever you copied it to.
